Stakes-placed twice last season at two, talented Wandjina filly Grand Scholar was a brilliant winner at Moonee Valley on Friday night showing the promise of better wins to come.
The Tony and Calvin McEvoy trained filly cast off maiden status with a first up win at Cranbourne earlier this month and kept up the good work when leading all the way to win as she pleased.
Grand Scholar won the 1200 metre dash by a length and three-quarters as favourite and has now won over $85,000 in prizemoney with two wins and two placings from six starts.
A $120,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Newgate Farm draft for Sun Bloodstock, Grand Scholar is a half-sister to Group II placed Sort After from the speedy Group III winning More Than Ready (USA) stakes-winner Patronyme.
