Bruce grew his passion for thoroughbred breeding and racing in New Zealand into his profession. A Bachelor of Commerce degree and extensive practical stud experience in Australia (Arrowfield) and New Zealand (Rich Hill, White Robe Lodge) led to the 2008 NZTBA Sunline International Management Scholarship. The scholarship took Bruce around the world to learn from the best operators in the thoroughbred business internationally: Cheveley Park Stud (UK), Coolmore (Ireland), and Taylor Made Farm (USA).
On his return, Bruce worked in a dual role as Marketing Assistant and South Island Bloodstock Representative/Auctioneer for world class auction house New Zealand Bloodstock. A chance meeting with Gai Waterhouse at Karaka 2010 led to a role as her Bloodstock Director until June 2013 before Bruce set up his own racing syndication company, Round Table Racing, which worked exclusively with Australia’s Hall of Fame trainer until December 2014. The opportunity to join the forward thinking and progressive Newgate Farm team in 2015 was too good to refuse, and Bruce is dedicated to helping develop the stud into a world leader.
