A filly from the first crop of our exciting young sire Tassort was the quickest filly on show at the official two year-old trials in Sydney on Monday at Randwick with Lady Tassort stopping the clock at 48.98 seconds in her 850m heat
One of seven winners prepared by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott Yet Lady Tassort showed brilliant natural speed to lead and then was very green in her action, but still too quick when let down to go on and win by two lengths.
A $40,000 Inglis Weanling Sale purchase from the Bell River Thoroughbreds draft, she fell short of her $60,000 reserve at Inglis Classic and runs for a syndicate headed by Redfox Racing. Lady Tassort is the third foal of Ice Cream Lady, a winning Not a Single Doubt mare from the family of Group I winning filly Aragen.
Tassort had two runners this morning and the other also ran well. A homebred filly for Emirates Park trained by Michael Freedman, Manaal closed off her trial well to finish a close third to Blue Point (IRE) filly Gerringong.
Group I Doncaster Handicap winner Brutal also had his first trialler with the Paul Perry trained filly Totoka acquitting herself well to finish second beaten half a length by Capitalist filly Celestial Bling, a $300,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Newgate draft for Trilogy Racing Pty Ltd/Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott Racing.
Celestial Bling is the second foal from Starry a winning half-sister by Exceed and Excel to Group II winner Zululand from US Group II winner Dream Play (USA).
Not to be left out, Cosmic Force also had a good result with his first trialler Force Red. The Peter and Paul Snowden trained colt finished a nice third carrying the Triple Crown Syndications colours behind highly rated Blue Point (IRE) colt Scampi.
The Newgate / China Horse Club partnership also featured with exciting Peter and Paul Snowden trained Snitzel colt Volatile, who zoomed home from last to win his heat by two and a half lengths.
A $550,000 Magic Millions purchase for China Horse Club/Newgate/Go/Trilogy from the Newgate Farm draft, Volatile is from winning Lonhro mare Artemis Rose, a half-sister to stakes-winner Regrowth and to the dam of Golden Slipper winner Forensics. He traces in tail female line to blue hen Easy Date, so is from the family of outstanding sires Snippets and Not a Single Doubt as well dual Group I winner King’s Legacy.
