The Triple Crown Syndications team were in the winner’s circle at Warwick Farm on Wednesday when two year-old Smart Missile colt Smart Image made a winning debut.
Prepared by Peter and Paul Snowden, he was tenacious to the line, running down the favourite Beyliks to win the 1200m maiden by half a head with Kerrin McEvoy in the saddle.
A $100,000 Magic Millions purchase for Triple Crown from the Newgate Farm draft, Smart Image was bred by SF Bloodstock in partnership with Matthew Sandblom and foaled and raised at Newgate. He is the third winner from Group III winner Shared Reflections.
A Gooree Stud homebred, Shared Reflections was bought by Newgate and partners at the 2017 Inglis Broodmare Sale from their draft for $255,000 when carrying Smart Image.
Newgate sold her current yearling colt by Capitalist at the Inglis Easter Round 2 Sale on Sunday for $80,000 and she was covered last spring by Russian Revolution.
