There aren’t many runners by outstanding sire Extreme Choice, but he posted a promising new winner at Newcastle on Tuesday.
Trained by Scott Singleton, three year-old colt Remlaps Commander was second on debut at Gosford earlier this month and improved on the effort to break the ice at his second start.
Sent out a short priced favourite with Rachael Murray in the saddle, he scored by a neck.
A $70,000 Inglis Classic purchase from the Mane Lodge draft for his trainer, Remlaps Commander was bred by Greg Corra and is the third winner from Mira Chavali, a half-sister by General Nediym to stakes-winner The Travelling Man.
Mira Chavali has been a regular visitor to the Newgate stallions and has a yearling colt by Winning Rupert and produced a colt by Cosmic Force this spring.
Extreme Choice has a crop of some 41 yearlings and nearly half of them, 18 in total, have been entered for the 2023 Magic Millions and a further eight have been catalogued for Inglis Classic.
