It’s been an amazing season of success for our young stallions with Extreme Choice, Capitalist and Flying Artie filling the trifecta in the Australian Champion First Crop Sires List, while Deep Field cemented his position as a serious leading sire being crowned Champion Third Crop Sire by earnings and winners.
A dual Group I winning son of Not a Single Doubt, Extreme Choice might be lacking in numbers due to his well-documented fertility issues, but on the score of quality he is unsurpassed.
His 15 Australian runners produced four winners – G1 Golden Slipper winner Stay Inside, G2 winner Tiger of Malay, stakes-winner Xtremetime and metro winner Abseiler.
Extreme Choice was also the overall Champion 2YO Sire by earnings emulating the success of first season sire Stratum, who achieved the feat in 2010 also siring a Golden Slipper winner in his first crop in Crystal Lily.
Golden Slipper winning sire Capitalist finished right on the heels of Extreme Choice with his 20 Australian winners including four stakes-winners headed by G1 winner Captivant. He was also tied with legendary sire Snitzel to be overall leading 2YO sire by winners.
Flying Artie rounded out the trifecta for Newgate with his 10 winners highlighted by G1 winner Artorius, while Winning Rupert also earned a slot in the Top 10 with 12 first crop winners.
Deep Field celebrated his first Group I winner this season in Portland Sky and racked up 119 winners of over $8.3 million with his first Hong Kong stakes-winner Sky Field adding to his achievements.
Deep Field has always been one of our busiest sires and delivered great results for his supporters at a fee of $22,000 for his first four seasons.
His burgeoning success has seen a steady increase in his fee over the past three seasons improving the quality of his mares which should see his star continue to rise.
