At a record breaking 2022 Magic Millions Yearling Sale Book 1, Newgate also set a record as the highest grossing vendor at the Gold Coast ever!
Newgate sold 45 yearlings for $18,810,000 ranging in price from $65,000 all the way up to the sale-topping $1.9million I Am Invincible colt from Suspicieuse (Fr) that sold to Tom Magnier.
Our average price of $418,000 was well above the overall sale average of $294,868 with quality running right through our draft.
Outside of the $1.9million colt, we sold a further three yearlings for $1million with Tom Magnier purchasing the Pierro colt from Ben’s Duchess (USA), Team Hawkes securing the Deep Field colt from Capital Commander and on the last night of the sale A List Stud purchased our Snitzel filly from Divine Centuri.
Our success would not be possible without the support of our friends and clients and all the wonderful buyers who bid on our horses over the five days of the sale.
Our stallions all enjoyed great results with Extreme Choice achieving the highest average with nine yearlings averaging $399,444 and his top seller was the colt from Hollywood Heart that made $700,000 for Kitchwin Hills when bought by Bahen Bloodstock.
His yearlings were conceived from a service fee of $22,000 making him the most profitable sire of the sale by return of service fee with his stock returning 18.2 times fee!
His Champion 2YO and Golden Slipper winning son Stay Inside will join him on our roster later this year.
Deep Field was the most represented sire at Magic Millions this year and had more yearlings sold than any other sire with 48 averaging $294,375 led by his first million dollar yearling, the colt from Capital Commander.
Currently the leading Australian first season sire by earnings thanks to his star daughter Russian Conquest, Russian Revolution proved popular with 29 of his second crop of yearlings averaging $238,103, which was well up on his average at this sale last year of $168,200.
Russian Revolution achieved a new sale ring benchmark with the half-sister to Stay Inside making $600,000 when bought by Annabel Neasham / Brian McGuire.
Capitalist had his usual great sale with 37 yearlings averaging $220,405 with his top seller the $750,000 colt from Isabella offered by Tyreel Stud and bought by Ciaron Maher Bloodstock.
The focus now switches to Sydney for the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale on February 6, 7 and 8 where Newgate will offer 58 yearlings.
