The best ever Inglis Classic Yearling Sale this week at Riverside Stables in Sydney proved a resounding success for Newgate Farm, who finished as the leading vendor by aggregate in Book 1 selling 29 yearlings for $4,140,000 with our young gun stallions Capitalist and Deep Field, the two leading sires by aggregate.
Top sellers for Newgate were a Zoustar colt from Blazing Snitzel that made $425,000 to the bid of China Horse Club/ Newgate Bloodstock and a Capitalist filly from Tricky Zippy (USA) snapped up by Woodpark Stud for $380,000.
Basking in the afterglow of siring Profiteer to win the $2million Inglis Millennium last Saturday, Capitalist was a hot commodity at the sale.
He had 17 yearlings average $207,059 highlighted by two exceptional colts from Theatric and Mystical Tale that sold for $625,000 and $600,000, both breaking the previous Inglis Classic record price to be the two highest priced horses sold at this year’s sale.
Deep Field had 30 yearlings sell for $3,272,500 at an average $109,083 with his best result a colt from Pearl Congenial that made $280,000 for Newgate Farm when bought by Gai Waterhouse / Adrian Bott / Kestrel Thoroughbreds / Best Bloodstock.
Winning Rupert had pleasing results with seven yearlings averaging $98,571 and his top seller was a colt from Missshiraz that made $200,000 for Newgate when bought by John Foote Bloodstock.
Flying Artie was also popular with six yearlings averaging $93,333 highlighted by a colt from Charity Belle that made $140,000 for HP Thoroughbreds when bought by Triple Crown Syndications.
The first yearlings by our dual Group I winning sprinter Russian Revolution were afforded a warm reception with 17 averaging $86,471.
His top sellers were a colt from Cappadocia that made $160,000 for Sledmere Stud when bought by Michael and Richard Freedman and a colt from Miss Marple made $150,000 for Ascot Park knocked down to Darby Racing / Will Johnson Bloodstock.
