The first crop of yearlings by Golden Slipper winner Capitalist have continued to impress at Magic Millions with highlights on Friday including two colts that made $600,000.
Consigned by Segenhoe Stud, the colt from Rough Ride was secured by James Harron, who also bought his sire Capitalist from this sale in 2015.
He is the second foal of a half-sister by Flying Spur to Group I Queensland Derby winner Eagle Way and stakes-winners Assertive Eagle, Impressive Eagle and Soaressa.
Segenhoe’s Peter O’Brien was delighted to see the colt go to James Harron.
“He told me of all the yearlings at this sale this one was the most like Capitalist,” said O’Brien.
Consigned by Element Hill, the Capitalist colt from Perfect Truth(IRE) is a half-brother to Group I winner Magicool and was bought by Chinese investor Zhiqiang An and will be trained by Team Hawkes.
“When you have a client (like Mr An) who comes here and is willing to stump up for that it’s fantastic – he’s got the pedigree, too,” said Wayne Hawkes.
“Capitalist was a great horse, he was a Golden Slipper winner, so hopefully we can get a job done with this bloke too. There are some really nice yearlings by first season sires – they have been really good horses and we have been happy to buy them.”
