Capitalist is the most represented sire at this year’s Magic Millions and had his best result so far on Thursday when James Harron Bloodstock Colts Partnership purchased his colt from Fimatino for $800,000.
A half-brother to Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Shaquero, the colt was consigned by Attunga Stud and is from a winning half-sister to stakes-winner Catacaos and to the dam of Cox Plate winning sire Shamus Award with new stakes-winner Insurrection also on the page.
James Harron knows more about Capitalist than most having purchased him as a yearling at the Gold Coast in 2015 for $165,000. He went on to win the Magic Millions 2YO Classic and the Golden Slipper before retiring to Newgate Farm.
“He has been a great stallion to us. We bought Capitalist here as a yearling and are very fond of his stock,” said Harron.
“This guy is a real standout for us at the sale by the stallion and obviously his pedigree was outstanding. His brother was a very, very good two-year-old. This horse’s temperament and attitude is quite incredible throughout the whole sale and we’re very pleased to get him.
“He was bred by Bob Hannon who has been a phenomenal breeder over years so delighted to get him and hopefully he can be a nice precocious early horse for us.”
Capitalist has also had big results with a colt from Zara Bay making $600,000 for Segenhoe when purchased by Hawkes Racing and a colt from Torvill making $475,000 for North when bought by TFI/Mick Price Racing & Breeding Pty Ltd.
