A bumper first session of the 2022 Magic Millions Yearling Sale on Tuesday produced outstanding results for Newgate, who ended the day as leading vendor by aggregate selling nine yearlings for $3,695,000.
Newgate sold the highest priced colt of the session with the Deep Field first foal from Group I winner I Am a Star selling for $800,000 to Shane Nichols, who trained his dam.
Even more popular was the I Am Invincible filly from stakes-winning Fastnet Rock mare Harlem River that was bought by Sheamus Mills Bloodstock and was the equal second highest priced filly on Tuesday.
Newgate sires Capitalist and Extreme Choice were also prominent in the top results of the day with a colt by the Golden Slipper winner from Isabella purchased by CiaronMaher Bloodstock from the Tyreel Stud draft for $750,000.
Extreme Choice made his mark with a colt from Hollywood Heart making $700,000 for Kitchwin Hills to the bid of BahenBloodstock.
Russian Revolution has a great chance in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic on Saturday in Russian Conquest and his top seller on Tuesday was Highgrove Stud’s colt from Fast Return that made $525,000 when bought by China Horse Club/Newgate Bloodstock/Trilogy Racing.
Menari also delivered the best pinhook result of the session with an astonishing sale for his colt from Fadetta that made $350,000 for Willow Park when snapped up by BahenBloodstock. He was sourced from the Inglis Digital June (early) Online Sale for $22,500.
