Promising Dissident gelding Pancho charged home from back in the field to finish a brave second to his stablemate Kubrick in the inaugural $1million Bondi Stakes at Randwick on Saturday (1600m).
Prepared by Chris Waller and ridden by Glyn Schofield, Pancho was stakes-placed last season at two and confirmed his Black Type credentials for the future with this terrific performance.
“He ran a tremendous race, he gave me a good feel going down to the barriers,” said Schofield.
“Relaxed beautifully like you would want over the mile, he let go well, but the winner was too good.”
With two wins and three placings from eight starts, Pancho has already won nearly $280,000 in prizemoney with the promise of more to come.
Deep Field was also in good form on Saturday with stakes horses Three Beans and Dig Deep both placing in Black Type races.
