Promising three year-old Cosmic Force filly Biancelli made it two wins in as many starts at Moonee Valley on Friday night with a tenacious display.
Trained by Mick Price and Michael Kent Jr, Biancelli won on debut at Ballarat earlier this month and then went to a Benchmark 64 event over 1000m with Beau Mertens in the saddle.
She was headed in the straight and came again to draw clear and win by more than a length.
“The intention was not to lead with her, but she jumped so well and I gave her a little squeeze and she took me straight to the front,” said Beau Mertens.
“Credit to her, she got headed by that horse, but fought back, dug deep and won well.
“She’s a lovely filly to ride and does everything well. I think she will rise nicely through her grades.”
A $30,000 Magic Millions Online purchase last year for Flying Start syndications, Biancelli is the fourth winner from five to race from winning Canny Lad mare Sophielicious, a grand-daughter of blue hen Professionelle, the dam of Group winners Sportsman, Prisoner of Love, Hoystar and stakes-winner King of Prussia with Group I winner Vanbrugh also in the family.
A son of now pensioned champion Hong Kong sire Deep Field, Cosmic Force is one of the bargain priced sires at Newgate standing at the modest fee of $11,000.
