Flying Artie had an interesting winner at Warwick Farm on Monday with talented boy from the bush Democracy Manifest winning his first start for new trainer Chris Waller.
With a win and two seconds for previous trainer Kody Nestor at country tracks, connections elected to give the three year-old his chance in the big smoke and it looks like a good decision.
Democracy Manifesto powered clear to win the 1200m Benchmark 64 event by a length and three-quarters and looks well placed to add to his record now the carnival is over.
Democracy Manifest was a $70,000 purchase by Allam Racing / Andrew Williams Bloodstock from the Network Bloodstock draft at the Inglis Ready 2 Race Sale and with two wins and two seconds from five starts is a horse on the up.
Bred by Aaron Bott and Newgate Stallions, Democracy Manifest had been passed-in short of his $25,000 reserve at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale and was later sold on Inglis Digital for $11,000.
He is the third winner for the Melbourne winning Beniciomare Slippery Satin, a half-sister to Group 1 WATC Railway Stakes winner Great Shot and multiple Listed winner Gawne.
Slippery Satin was one of 202 mares covered last spring by Newgate Farm’s exciting young sire North Pacific.
