The record breaking 2021 Magic Millions Yearling Sale Book 1 at the Gold Coast this week produced stunning results for our stallions Capitalist, Deep Field and young gun Russian Revolution with Newgate Farm selling 37 yearlings in total for an aggregate $8,945,000.
The two highest priced yearlings sold by Newgate were also the two highest priced for their sire Capitalist, who had 34 yearlings average $252,059, a figure that was up on his 2020 result at this sale of $239,706.
Immediate racetrack success for Capitalist, who already has four stakes horses and two metro winners, created keen demand for his stock with James Harron Bloodstock paying $975,000 for his colt from stakes-winning Snitzel mare Golconda, while Nick Turnbull paid $720,000 for the filly from US Group II winner Sky Treasure (USA).
Deep Field had big representation at this sale and had 36 yearlings average $211,667 with his top seller the $700,000 colt from Courageous Kitty that was offered by Silverdale Farm and bought by Lindsay Park Racing/Andrew Williams Bloodstock.
His top selling filly came very late in the sale with Attunga Stud’s filly from Xandretta making $520,000 to the bid of Black Soil Bloodstock/John Foote Bloodstock/Gollan Racing, who have had so much success with Deep Field’s brilliant daughter Isotope.
Extreme Choice had six yearlings average $201,667 highlighted by his $400,000 colt from Convention (GB), while Flying Artie and Winning Rupert were both popular and had yearlings sell for up to $200,000.
The first yearlings by Snitzel’s brilliant son Russian Revolution were well received with 25 averaging $168,200, while our other Snitzel son Menari also did well with smaller numbers having three average $200,000.
Highlights for Russian Revolution were fillies from French Fern and My Conquestadory (USA) that made $425,000 each to the bid of A List Stud and Snowden Racing, while he also had colts from Secret Trail and Silent Cash that made $300,000 knocked down to Snowden Racing and Gerald Ryan/ Sterling Alexiou.
