The Newgate Farm young gun sires continued to prove popular during the second session of the Magic Millions Yearling Sale with Winning Rupert posting a huge result with his colt from Istanford fetching $425,000 to the bid of Hawkes Racing.
Consigned by Newgate Farm, he was bred by SF Bloodstock and is the second foal of imported Group II winner Istanford (USA).
“We thought he was on type nearly the best colt in the sale,” said Wayne Hawkes.
Winning Rupert has had a strong sale so far with nine yearlings averaging $167,222, an impressive sum off a $22,000 service fee.
Capitalist yearlings continued to impress with his best result on Thursday a colt from Golconda that made $500,000 for Newgate Farm when bought by Kennewell Racing/Group 1 Bloodstock P/L (FBAA).
The sale continues.
