Five winners since the start of the month including Saturday’s metropolitan juvenile winner Hancora Field has Deep Field riding high and he hit a home run at Riverside Stables on Sunday when his colt from Fragrant Storm sold for $320,000.
Consigned by Fairview Park Stud, the powerhouse bay was knocked down to China Horse Club / Newgate Bloodstock / Starlight Racing NSW and is the fifth foal of Fragrant Storm, an unraced half-sister by Exceed and Excel to stakes-winner Texan.
Linda Duckworth of Fairview Park was delighted with the result.
“He was very popular so I had a gut feeling he’d be among the top lots,” she said.
“He was a standout as a foal. His owners usually breed to race, but with this one I told them to have fun in the sale ring!”
Deep Field also had big results on day one with a colt from Humble fetching $190,000 when bought by Magus Equine and a filly from Exotic Escape selling for $150,000 to Prime Thoroughbreds.
Deep Field is the leading sire of three year-old winners in the country and has a big draft of 24 for this sale, click here to see them.
