The rising regard in which our exciting young sire Tassort is held was highlighted at the Magic Millions National Yearling Sale this week when a lovely filly from County Tale sold for $175,000.
The star filly was purchased by Norm Gardner and was bred and offered for sale by Anita Rossiter of At Last Farm.
Anita works on night watch at Newgate Farm and arrived at the Hunter Valley farm from her previous job at Godolphin at about the same time as Tassort, who also came from Godolphin.
“I did my first night at Newgate, and Tassort was there in the box. I thought, ‘We came together, he’s bred in the purple, and he’s a beautiful stallion,’ so he really was the obvious choice for me to send County Tale to,” Anita Rossier told TTR.
“I hope Tassort goes on to become the next ‘big stallion,’ so to speak. I would also like to thank Newgate for just being so wonderful. They’re just terrific.”
County Tale is a proven producer that has left three winners highlighted by $1million earner Speedy King and she is a half-sister by Tale of the Cat (USA) to stakes-winner Magic Marvo and to the dam of last Saturday’s new stakes-winner Chinny Boom.
County Tale has another filly to follow by Tassort, who covered 232 mares last spring and has had a fee increase this year to $38,500.
He also had a good result with a colt from Scarlett Fox that made $75,000 for Berkeley Park Stud when knocked down to MR Racing/Mark Cook/David Vandyke/RM Racing.
