The equal highest priced mare sold at the Inglis Broodmare Sale on Friday was Tyreel Stud’s Sous La Terre, who made $240,000 to the bid of Brent Atwell of Darling View Thoroughbreds.
Atwell purchased the well bred daughter of Pierro with a view of sending her to Newgate Farm’s exciting new recruit Ozzmosis, a Group I winning son of Zoustar.
“To be honest, I spent a couple more bids than I’d hoped but it’s a massive pedigree and she’s a really nice type, so we’re very happy to get her,’’ Atwell said.
“She was probably my favourite mare in the sale. Obviously you have to see what’s in front of you but the pedigree’s to die for, there’s plenty of updates coming through…and I was looking for a mare to go to Ozzmosis and she will be the one.’’
It’s not hard to see why Atwell settled on Sous a Terre as she is an unraced half-sister to Group III winner Solar Charged, the dam of champion filly Sunlight and Group III winner Sisstar, who are both by Zoustar, sire also of Ozzmosis.
