A New Zealand bred son of champion sire O’Reilly, Group I ATC Doncaster Handicap winner Brutal is on the board with his first winner after Jenni’s Meadow scored on debut at Moonee Valley on Saturday with another first starter by Brutal in Four Ace finishing in fourth place.
Ridden by Daniel Stackhouse for Ben, Will, and JD Hayes, Jenni’s Meadow came with a sweeping run from second last to win the 1200m juvenile contest by a neck.
“I thought she was fantastic and a great ride by Stacky,” Ben Hayes said.
“There was a bit of pressure early, and he got her balanced and into a rhythm. She travelled well and let down great.
“She has a lovely big action and I think she will be better over further.
“A big congratulations to Tony (Ottobre). We loved her at the sales, and he beat us, so we went straight up to him and asked if there was a chance we could have her train.
“He is a great judge, and we look forward to having fun with her.”
Bred and sold by Raheen Stud, Jennis’s Meadow was bought by Cape Schank Stud at the Magic Millions for $260,000 and is a half-sister to stakes-placed Flower in the Wind.
She was the most expensive yearling by her sire at the Gold Coast and is the second winner from Meadow, a winning half-sister by Redoute’s Choice to stakes-placed Superare and to the dam of Group III winner Mimi’s Award.
Brutal has 13 entries for Magic Millions and eight for Inglis Classic.
