For the second year in a row Newgate Farm have produced the Champion Australian First Season Sire with Russian Revolution dominating his peers to sire 15 winners of $1.8million.
A brilliant Group I winning sprinter by Snitzel, Russian Revolution has transmitted his speed and precocity to his offspring with his star performers being Group II winning filly Revolutionary Miss and Group III winning colt Rise of the Masses as well as stakes-placed Russian Roni.
Second in the Group I MRC Blue Diamond Stakes, the Peter and Paul Snowden trained Revolutionary Miss looked terrific in her first barrier trial back last week and looks primed for further success this spring.
Extreme Choice, Capitalist and Flying Artie all made their mark in the second crop sires division.
Capitalist was the overall leader by winners with 72 winners of $5.7million and four stakes-winners – Marine One, Sebonack, Cannonball and I’mLovin’ya.
Even with his lack of numbers, Extreme Choice was the leader by stakes-winners with six to his credit headed by G1 winner She’s Extreme – also Espiona, Extreme Warrior, Tiger of Malay, Extreme Flight and Extremely Lucky.
Flying Artie sired 44 winners of $3.1million highlighted by stakes-winners Flying Crazy and Giannis, but has been making news around the world with his top class Group I winning son Artorius.
The globe-trotting colt has been doing Australia proud with placings in the Group I Platinum Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot and the Darley July Sprint Cup at Newmarket with the Group I Prix Maurice de Gheest at Deauville his next target in France this weekend.
