Newgate’s leading first season sire Russian Revolution added a new winner to his tally on Sunday when the powerful Kris Lees stable unleashed promising colt Brudenell.
Dispatched to Port Macquarie for his debut, Brudenell was sent off as a hot favourite and delivered for punters in style.
He led for home and kept up a good gallop for Dylan Gibbons to win the open 1100m maiden by two lengths over older rivals.
An $80,000 Inglis Classic purchase for Lees Racing / Tasman Bloodstock from the Glastonbury Farm draft, Brudenell runs for a big syndicate of stable clients.
Bred by Macquarie Stud, he is the second winner for Knit ’n’ Purl a winning More Than Ready (USA) daughter of Group III winner Zingalong.
Knit ‘n’ Purl has been a regular visitor to Newgate sires and has a yearling filly by Capitalist that sold for $200,000 at Inglis Classic this year and is in foal to Flying Artie after missing to Russian Revolution the year before.
Russian Revolution is the leading Australian first season sire by earnings and winners and stands at a fee of $71,500.
