Jackson grew up on his family’s beef cattle farm in the snowy mountains town of Corryong. Jackson’s career working in the industry began prepping yearlings for Senga Bisset. From there, Jackson worked at Darley Australia and Darley’s Jonabell Farm in Kentucky. Upon Darley’s acquisition of Woodlands, Jackson went to work for Peter Snowden at Crown Lodge. After a two year stint at Crown Lodge, Jackson ventured to Western Australia to join Australia’s leading breeder of stayers, Trevor and Terrie Delroy, as their as bloodstock and stud manager. Jackson returned to Sydney after two and a half years with the Delroys to work for Peter Snowden. In fact, Jackson became the first employee for Peter and Paul Snowden’s new training operation at Randwick. Jackson spent the next four years as Racing Manager for the Snowdens working with great horses such as Redzel, Pride of Dubai, Tycoon Tara, Shooting to Win, Miracles of Life, and Newgate’s own Capitalist and Russian Revolution.
