Colts by Extreme Choice and Capitalist were the two top sellers at the Magic Millions 2YO’s in Training Sale at the Gold Coast on Monday.

Topping the sale was A List Stud’s Extreme Choice colt from Arnault that made $350,000 to the bid of Dean Harvey’s Baystone Farm.

He is the first foal of winning Fastnet Rock mare Arnault, a half-sister to stakes-winner Yesterday’s Songs from stakes-winner Sarah Vee, the colt was a successful pinhook having been sourced from Inglis Premier for $130,000 from the Yarran Thoroughbreds draft.

“He’s an elite stallion and I thought this sale was a good opportunity while the stud farms weren’t buying,” a delighted Dean Harvey said.

“They’ll be making a lot more in the same ring in January – all the big buyers will be on them.

“I liked the colt as a yearling and missed him there.

“I haven’t seen figures on a young stallion like Extreme Choice currently boasts. I asked Adrian Hancock if he had, and he said you’d have to go back to Adraan to see them.

“The colt breezed really well, has a great action and I was really keen to secure him.

“Leon and Troy Corstens will train him. He’s pretty much syndicated already. He’ll have three to four weeks off and then head to Flemington.”

Capitalist sired the second highest priced offering with his colt from Solar Burst making $330,000 for O’Gorman Racing when secured by leading bloodstock agent James Clarke in partnership with champion Hong Kong trainer Ricky Yiu.

“The stallion is flying and the horse breezed well – he ticked so many boxes,” Clarke said.

“I liked the horse at the yearling sale here in January and Ricky really liked his breeze – he picked him out and I was delighted to be able to work with him at the sale today.”

A successful pinhook having been sourced from the Murrulla Stud draft at Magic Millions Book 2 for $90,000, the colt is the first foal of a metro winning Northern Meteor mare from the family of Group I winner and Group I sire Myboycharlie (IRE).
