Newgate Farm’s Winning Rupert sired his second debut winner in two days when It’sarayday scored a dominant victory at Belmont in Perth on Saturday.
The Simon Miller trained gelding had shown good ability in two previous trials, so was sent out favourite in the 1200m contest and duly delivered for punters when strolling clear to win by a length and three-quarters.
It’sarayday was purchased by his trainer from the Newgate Farm draft at Inglis Classic for $80,000 and was bred by SF Bloodstock.
Foaled and raised at Newgate, It’sarayday is the seventh winner from seven to race from Wild Soiree (USA), a half-sister by Fusaichi Pegasus to Group III winner Musidora, the dam of Group III winners Tulip and Sacred Eye.
Wild Soiree is in foal to another of the young Newgate sires in Tassort.
It’sarayday is the 11th winner for Written Tycoon’s brilliant son Winning Rupert, who stands at a fee of $11,000 this spring.
