Newgate Young Gun Sires Trifecta
With less than two months of the Australian racing season to run, the Australian First Season Sires List is dominated by Newgate Farm sires with Extreme Choice and Capitalist engaged in a stirring battle to take top honours with Flying Artie in third place and Winning Rupert also holding a slot in the Top 10.
Despite limited numbers, Extreme Choice has made his mark with three stakes-winners – Group I Golden Slipper winner Stay Inside, Group II winner Tiger of Malay and stakes-winner Xtremetime, while Capitalist’s 16 Australian winners include four stakes-winners – Group I Champagne Stakes winner Captivant, Group III winner Kalashnikov and stakes-winners Profiteer and Tycoon Humma.
Flying Artie’s nine Australian winners are headed by Group I Blue Diamond Stakes winner Artorius and exciting prospect Giannis, a good second in the Group I BRC JJ Atkins Stakes last Saturday.
