The Magic Millions National Weanling Sale on Thursday highlighted strong demand for the progeny of our outstanding young sire Extreme Choice, who has just 38 foals in his third crop which are now weanlings.
Three colts from that crop were offered on Thursday with Gilgai Farm’s colt from Snipzu selling for $650,000 toe China Horse Club / Newgate Farm to be third highest priced weanling of the session.
A half-brother to Group I placed The Drinks Cart and three other winners, he is the sixth foal of Group III-placed Snipzu, a former very handy juvenile that won over $475,000 on the track.
“He’s an awesome individual and we’ve bought him with our good partners,” said Henry Field.
“He’s from a very good mare that’s thrown a Group I place-getter and is from a top farm.
“We were lucky enough to buy Golden Slipper winner Stay Inside, also by Extreme Choice, at this sale a few years ago as a weanling and he reminded me of him.
“Physically, he’s probably even better. He’s as good an Extreme Choice as I’ve ever seen.”
The other two Extreme Choice colts from Murtle Turtle and Mambo Lady were sold for $220,000 and $210,000 by Kenmore Lodge and Erinvale Thoroughbreds.
