Strong trade continued during the second and final session of Adelaide Magic Millions on Wednesday with a colt by red hot young sire Capitalist selling for $425,000.
Consigned by Cornerstone Stud, the colt was knocked down to Aramco Racing and is a half-brother to five winners from Group III placed Flying Spur mare Okaylah.
Bred by Cornerstone Stud in partnership, the colt is the eighth foal of Okaylah, who was bought by Cornerstone Stud for $140,000 at the 2017 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale.
Sam Hayes of Cornerstone Stud was delighted with the final price of the handsome chestnut.
“I am a bit overwhelmed actually,” a delighted Hayes said. “There was quite a big build-up. I was a bit nervous, so it was great that he sold like that.
“That probably exceeded our expectations but the market is strong. It has been a great year for horse racing, the past twelve months, and we are just happy to be part of it.
“I think that’s the best thing about it is, it gets you thinking about what you can bring back next year when they make that sort of money.”
The star colt is bred on the same cross as Sunday’s Group III Canberra Black Opal Stakes winner Kalashnikov, who is also by Capitalist from a daughter of Flying Spur.
Capitalist was the leading sire by average at this sale with four youngsters averaging $201,250, his next best result coming with a colt from Bleue Pepite that made $200,000 for Emirates Park when bought by Will Clarken/Suman Hedge Bloodstock (FBAA)/David Jolly.
