Lot 162 was the most expensive pinhook offered in the Inglis Ready2Race this year and the Deep Field colt from Wind Shift proved well worth the gamble when he sold for $610,000 setting a new record price for this sale.
Consigned by Lime Country Thoroughbreds on behalf of Regal Farm, the colt breezed at Taupo in New Zealand clocking 10.30 seconds and was purchased by Macau Jockey Club and Louis Ho on the advice of David Hayes.
“We’re ecstatic to secure the colt. Louis Ho from the Macau Jockey Club was instrumental in purchasing the horse. The horse will now go to Lindsay Park in Euroa to let down and a further decision will be made on his future in coming weeks after a short spell,” Hayes said.
“We just loved him. He’s a particularly sharp looking horse with great balance who breezed up well.”
Bred in Queensland by Canning Downs, he made $230,000 for them when offered at Inglis Classic earlier this year and bought by Regal Farm Partnership / Upper Bloodstock / Teng Long / McKeever Bloodstock.
He is the second foal of winning Exceed and Excel mare Wind Shift, a grand-daughter of Group III winner Blue Storm from the family of Group I winner and $1.2million earner Flit.
Newgate Farm’s Deep Field has enjoyed a hot run in Hong Kong where he has had six winners from 12 runners ensuring his stock at this sale were always going to be sought after and two further colts from Riddling and Sugar Bay (USA) both sold for $180,000.
The powerhouse son of Northern Meteor stands at a fee of $55,000 this spring.
