The team at Lindsay Park have always had a huge opinion of Deep Field colt Aysar and he justified their faith in his ability when going down by a long neck to finish second to Ole Kirk in the $1million Group I MRC Caulfield Guineas (1600m) on Saturday.
Damian Lane gave Aysar a great ride and he hit the front with 100m to run, only to be caught late by the Golden Rose winner Ole Kirk.
A relatively inexperienced colt still in his first racing preparation having only made his debut on June 8, Aysar has two wins and two placings from five starts with prizemoney topping $400,000 and will no doubt be a major Guineas contender in the autumn.
A $260,000 Magic Millions purchase for Shadwell from the Torryburn Stud draft, Aysar is the first foal of Miss Interiors, a winning half-sister by Flying Spur to dual Group I winner Russian Revolution and Group III winner Turbo Miss.
Miss Interiors was bought by Belmont Bloodstock on behalf of Torryburn Stud at the 2017 Inglis Chairman’s Sale for $625,000 when carrying Aysar.
Her next foal, an I Am Invincible colt, made $875,000 at Inglis Easter earlier this year when bought by Tom Magnier, so it’s very much a family on the up.
Miss Interiors has a yearling colt by another of the Newgate sires in Capitalist to follow.
