Another day at Inglis Classic and another stellar colt by Extreme Choice upped the ante to set a new record for most expensive horse ever sold at this sale and also most expensive yearling by his Newgate Farm based sire.
Consigned by Mane Lodge, the handsome bay was bought by China Horse Club / Newgate Bloodstock / Trilogy and is the fifth foal from To Dubawi Go, a six time metro winner by champion European sire Dubawi.
The family features Group III winner McClintock and stakes-winners Little Pattie and Fifteen Carat tracing back to Group I placed Palmyra Bay, a three-quarter sister to Group I winner Just Now.
“It’s fantastic, to be able to come here to Inglis and top the sale with a really genuine colt, it’s unbelievable really,’’ said Neil Osborne.
“It’s sensational really, a new record for Classic, it’s hard to think words like that would ever come out of my mouth.
“I’ve got a lot of good friends here, a lot of good friends at Inglis, I just love them and it’s great to be able to celebrate with them and to achieve this here at Inglis.”
The star colt was seen as the best horse in the sale by Henry Field.
“He’s a gorgeous athletic horse, plenty of scope, in my opinion the best Extreme Choice I’ve seen at a yearling sale this year, out of a Dubawi mare, off a great farm so we were just so pleased to get him for our big syndicate China Horse Club and Trilogy Racing for Jason and Mel Stenning, we’re delighted,’’ Field said.
“He’s a really good horse. He was the one horse we really wanted to buy at this sale.’’
To Dubawi Go was covered last spring by another Newgate sire in Cosmic Force.
Extreme Choice is leading the sire averages at this sale with six yearlings selling at average $368,333.
Our sires are having a massive impact on the sale with the top four by aggregate coming into the final day all standing at Newgate.
Capitalist ($3,855,000) heads that list ahead of Deep Field ($3,590,000), Russian Revolution ($3,465,000) and Extreme Choice ($2,210,000).
Capitalist made his mark on Monday with a Silverdale Farm consigned colt from stakes-winner Baby Corn selling to Gai Waterhouse / Adriant Bott / Blueblood Thoroughbreds for $390,000.
Deep Field had his best result on Monday with a filly from Group III winner Camporella making $360,000 for Yarraman Park when bought by Roughwood Park.
