The Inglis Ready 2 Race Sale on Tuesday at Riverside Stables was topped by a Capitalist colt from Ghalia’s Dream that made $400,000 for Blake Ryan Racing when bought by Hong Kong based Willie Leung of Magus Equine.
A three-quarter brother-in-blood to Group III winning juvenile Sebonack, the Emirates Park bred colt breezed in 10.74 seconds and is the second foal of Ghalia’s Dream, a half-sister by Smart Missile to Group winners Santos and Melagrana
He was a super successful pinhook having been plucked from the Middlebrook Valley Lodge draft at Inglis Classic for $70,000.
“To turn $70,000 into $400,000, well that’s just ridiculous in the very best of ways,’’ Blake Ryan said.
“That’s what we’re all about. It’s mind blowing really, it’s a fantastic result.
“He was a very popular horse all week, he’s just a lovely horse and deserved to sell well like he did and I’m sure he’ll go on to do good things.’’
Leung, who was involved in many purchases today for different Hong Kong clients, was thrilled a colt by Capitalist, who has sired seven winners in Hong Kong from 10 runners..
“He looks really athletic and moved really well in the breeze up,’’ Leung said.
“He didn’t breeze in the fastest time but he looks like a racehorse, that’s why I want to bring him to Hong Kong straight away and hopefully he can run next April in a Griffin race.”
The star colt’s dam Ghalia’s Dream has a yearling colt to follow by Tassort.
