The highest priced colt sold in the first session of the 2020 Perth Magic Millions Yearling Sale on Monday was a stunning youngster by Winning Rupert that made $200,000.
Consigned by Western Breeders Alliance, the star colt is the second foal of Bitter Twist, a winning half-sister to stakes-winner Hoegaarden from the family of eight time Group I winner Intergaze.
He was bought by Victorian trainer Matt Laurie.
“I thought he was a standout,” Laurie said. “I obviously had to bid pretty hard to get him.
“He’s a really forward, well muscled and well balanced colt – a typical early looking style of horse.”
“His physical attributes really matched his page and I’m thrilled to get him.”
The first crop of yearlings by Winning Rupert have been warmly received at yearling sales this year with a further seven of his stock to be offered at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale in Melbourne next month followed by 10 at Magic Millions Adelaide.
