Newgate have enjoyed strong results at Inglis Easter and produced their jewel in the crown on Wednesday afternoon with the I Am Invincible filly from Group I winner Ruud Awakening selling for $1.7 million.
Bred by Sir Owen Glenn’s Go Bloodstock, the star filly was foaled and raised at Newgate and is a half-sister to this season’s top class juvenile Rise of the Masses (Russian Revolution), winner of the Group III ATC Pago Pago Stakes.
The third foal of Champion NZ 2YO and Karaka Million winner Ruud Awakening, the filly was snapped up by James Harron Bloodstock.
“Sir Owen Glenn and (Go Bloodstock manager) Steve O’Connor do a great job and it’s an excellent result for the farm,” Newgate stud manager Jim Carey said.
“It is a huge credit to everybody at the farm, from the people who foaled her down and brought her through (to the yearling sale) and they’ve always had a huge wrap on her.”
“Russian Revolution is absolutely smashing it. He had another winner (on Tuesday at Hawkesbury) and Rise of the Masses came off the farm, like this filly, and hopefully she progresses as well as he is.
“She has an absolutely fantastic temperament, she has got a great action and she’s very straight-forward.”
Rudd Awakening has a bit to come in the pipeline with a weanling filly by Russian Revolution’s sire Snitzel and she was covered last spring by Extreme Choice.
Newgate sold 21 yearlings at Inglis Easter for $9,060,000 and our sires also posted pleasing results with Russian Revolution recording the impressive average of $490,000 from his three yearlings sold headed by his $850,000 filly from Abscond.
Capitalist made his mark with 10 yearlings averaging $301,000 and his best result came with a $700,000 colt from Madame Cactus (USA) that was offered by Twin Hills Stud and bought by James Harron Bloodstock.
Deep Field had 12 yearlings average $286,667 with his top seller claimed by the Hong Kong Jockey Club, who bid $750,000 to secure Torryburn Stud’s colt from The Soloist.
