Newgate Farm had a big result on day one at Inglis Easter when selling the full brother to our young champion sire Russian Revolution for $1.4million.
Bred by Mrs Belinda Bateman and foaled and raised at Newgate, the colt from terrific producer Ballet D’Amour (USA) was bought by James Harron Bloodstock.
He is a sibling to not only dual Group I winner Russian Revolution, but also Group III winner Turbo Miss and to the dam of dual Group I winner Home Affairs and stakes-winner Aysar.
“We’re here to try and buy stallion prospects and he was the horse we were very keen to secure,” Harron told ANZ Bloodstock News.
“He’s a cracking horse, has big pedigree to back him up and is from one of the best farms in the country in Newgate.
“For us, it’s about putting as many of the variables in our corner as we can and he did that.”
The colt will spend a few weeks in the paddock before heading to Queensland’s Kolora Lodge where all the JHB yearlings are broken in.
“He’s handled the sale as well as I’ve ever seen a horse handle a sale, he never turned a hair, and being a November 7 foal I really think there’s nothing but upside with this horse,” Harron said.
“He’s got a lot of strength and is mentally very strong for a November foal.
“It’s all about just getting him back and looking after him and letting him grow and develop and then he’ll be the one that tells us when he’s ready.”
No trainer has been decided for the colt, who is the tenth foal of Ballet D’Amour, who has had six foals to race all winners and was covered last year by I Am Invincible after having a year off.
Newgate also had a good result selling the Extreme Choice colt from Fadetta (USA) for $650,000 to Rosemont Alliance / Suman Hedge Bloodstock (FBAA) / Snowden Racing / William Johnson Bloodstock (FBAA).
He was the top seller for his sire in the opening session and Newgate also sold the highest selling yearling by Capitalist with a colt from Comical Smile (USA) selling for $460,000 to Yu Long Investments / Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott / Kestrel Thoroughbreds.
Bred in partnership with Gooree, the colt is a half-brother to Group II winning sire Smart Missile and stakes-winners Suge Ahead and Kiss From a Rose.
