Deep Field is the reigning champion sire in Hong Kong and with limited opportunities now to secure his stock, a colt from stakes-winner Granny Red Shoes proved a hot commodity at Inglis Easter on Monday.
Bred and offered by Segenhoe, he is the second foal of a young stakes-winning daughter of Not a Single Doubt and was snapped up by the powerful China Horse Club/Newgate/Go/Trilogy stallion syndicate.
This colt is the second Deep Field yearling ever to break seven figures and takes over as his most expensive yearling.
Peter O’Brien from Segenhoe was thrilled with the result.
“It was a huge result as we only paid $40,000 for the service fee that year and more importantly he was bought by the Newgate partnership and they are our neighbours and great friends and we know he’ll get every chance,” said Peter O’Brien.
Granny Red Shoes has a colt to follow by Zoustar and was covered last year by Capitalist.
