Running a brave third behind McLaren in the Group III ATC Canonbury Stakes at Rosehill last Saturday was the David Payne trained Wandjina colt Deep Chill.
Having just his second start following a debut fifth at Canterbury last month, Deep Chill tracked the leaders all the way and despite overracing in the middle stages stuck on well to gain some Black Type.
A half-brother to Group III winner Dreamforce, Deep Chill was a $120,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Kitchwin Hills draft and runs for well known Sydney owner breeder John Cordina.
He is the sixth foal of former star mare Eskimo Queen, winner of the Group I STC Coolmore Classic and Queensland Oaks.
Deep Chill is the second stakes horse for Wandjina joining Grand Scholar.
Wandjina has a big draft of 29 yearlings entered for Inglis Classic and you can see them here.
